The Puppy Page
We don’t breed very often and primarily breed for sound construction, temperament and for when we would like a puppy ourselves to show, this means that puppies aren’t available all that often, Our puppies are reared with love and care and are brought up in the family home alongside our other Beagles so they are used to the everyday goings on in the household.
The parents of the puppies are our family pets that are also shown and have been genetically health tested for
- Factor VII Deficiency (FVIID/F7)
- Imerslund-Grasbeck Syndrome (IGS)
- Neonatal Cerebellar Cortical Degeneration (NCCD)
- Musladin-Lueke Syndrome (MLS)
- Lafora's Disease
- Degenerative Myelopathy (DM)
- Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA-prcd)
- Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA-cord1/PRA-crd4)
- Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency
- Primary Open Angle Glaucoma (POAG)
All our puppies are vet checked, microchipped, wormed, Kennel Club registered and have a five generation pedigree with a contract of sale and the relevant breed/puppy information and advice
All puppies are a big commitment and need time, love and consistent training to become a sociable well adjusted member of your family,
We feel one of the most important things you must be able to offer your Beagle is your time, they are pack hounds and do not do well if left on their own for long periods, someone must be home with them during the day regularly and this must be considered if you are thinking of adding a beagle to your family.
They need to be taught appropriate behaviour and the house rules early on and will need a quiet retreat of their own to sleep in or to go to when they want some peace and quiet, crates can be very useful for this, our Beagles love theirs, A mutual respect between children & puppies needs to be learnt for both too. Puppies tend to chew all manner of things so it is important to teach them what they are allowed to chew and they will soon learn, Toilet training again will take time and patience, Beagles need commitment and consistency, Having said all this they are so full of fun and always make you smile, it is a real pleasure to watch them grow and learn with your family,
Your puppy is still very much a baby at this age so taking the time to adjust him properly to the world and helping him become a well adjusted family member will be well worth it in the years to come.
